Negotiating your rate as a freelance filmmaker: Rule #2 Here’s another rule, let’s call it rule 2 (sounds like a movie title doesn’t it : ). This rule sticks to the point that in negotiating there is no winner unless there is a loser. So I want to teach you as a filmmaker to negotiate in a way that not only makes you more money but also makes clients appreciate the way you do business. Specifically this video addresses the “first impression” and the lost opportunity for you to make a good one (impression that is) each and every time you get a call for a new gig. This way if there is a chance to make more money for the gig you’ve increased the chances AND more importantly you’ve definitely increased the chances of getting more calls (and even more referrals) from your client just by being awesome and easy to book. You will see right away a huge improvement in the relationship with your client...remember the number one rule of sales: It’s harder to land a client than it is to keep a client...so by being easy to work with on ALL jobs and from the START you are already increasing your income exponentially for years to come.
