Modifying the Squier Contemporary Active Jazzmaster

Modifying the Squier Contemporary Active Jazzmaster Link to demo:

In this video, I modify my brand spanking new Squier Contemporary Active Jazzmaster to be yet more contemporary!

I achieve this with the following mods:

- Bare Knuckle Pickups Black Hawk Ceramic Humbucker set. These passive pickups deliver the best of both worlds, the clarity of active pickups with the dynamics of a passive, all without the need of a 9V battery!

- Gotoh SG381 MGT Locking Tuning Key Set, improved stagger and locking ability over the stock tuners, which are average at best.

- Bone Nut. Improved sustain, tonality and tuning stability over stock plastic nut

- Electronic overhaul. Full cavity shielding with conductive adhesive copper tape. New pots, including a CTS 500K volume pot, and a push/push 500K pot for partial coil spliiting using 4k7 resistors. Treble bleed comprising sprague .001 mfd cap and 120k 1/4W resistor added to volume pot. Sprague 0.022 cap used for tone pot. Wired with vintage cloth wire. I reused the existing jack and selector switch.

These mods make this guitar truly unique in looks, and versatile in tones which my next video will demonstrate!

If you're in Australia and are looking to have these or any other mods done to your guitar, feel free to drop me a message on either of my business pages (Fb: instagram: @cowanguitars) or email me at alcowanguitars@gmail.com to discuss your needs and arrange a quote!

Here is the wiring diagram I drew up for this guitar:
