Now JFK is the 20th busiest airport in the world. Now....if you take into consideration that it's because lga Lagaurdia Airport up the block. Also EWR Newark Airport a short drive away(in miles not traffic😂). These airports work together and spreads out the flights and air traffic. These 3 airports slot controlled. So say delta want a new route, they would have to wait to someone leaves and buy it or change one of there route.
These slots and these airports are controlled due to the massive amount of aircraft in the skies.

If you added all 3 NYC airports it would more then double the number one busiest airport in the world.
