I've discovered that the Precise Tube Tester I have recently been restoring can perform three 'special' tests on tubes. With some addition external bits, the tube plate, cathode or screen current can be measured, grid leak biasing can be undertaken and a characteristic curve can be displayed on a regular scope! My goal is to simply try each of these tests - I'm not worried about the measurement outcomes.
Note: I get an electrical shock of some significance while I'm working with the tester so I have recorded an introduction to the video discussing my accident ( I don't get hurt, just embarrassed and disappointed) and the steps I'm taking to improve my shop safety. Even though this particular shock was probably not strong enough to really hurt me, It's worth investigating and thinking about and taking some actions to reduce the chance of a repetition. I'm sharing this for your benefit.
