Merry Christmas Around The World 2019** Merry Christmas Around The World 2019**

Thanks for stopping by today to take a look at our review video and Merry Christmas To All Around The World! Or whatever holiday you may celebrate, Hanukkah, Kwanza, and More! This is the first of two 2019 Holiday videos.

Let's Start In My Country - The USA!

Of course, we know that Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. But many people have their own holiday traditions.

Americans celebrate their Christmas Holiday sometimes by remembering how their ancestors celebrated this special Holiday.

Turkey and ham are popular food choices in the USA, but then again, it depends on which part of the USA one lives in. Because so are tamales, roast goose, seven fishes seafood salad. Then there are those of us who are vegetarians with our "Tofu Turkey."

In the Southwest region of the US, lanterns are made from brown paper bags and are weighted down with sand. Then they are lit with a candle. These luminaries are displayed on Christmas Eve.

Many Mexican Americans celebrate Las Posadas, a procession that re-enacts Mary and Joseph's search for a place to stay on Christmas Eve in Bethlehem. Swedish Americans hold St. Lucia Festivals. Puerto Rican Americans like the tradition of Parrandas. This is where friends go from house-to-house singing Christmas carols.

Christmas has been declared a legal holiday in America, as well as a religious event. In the 19th Century, Santa Claus came to the USA from Europe from the Dutch Sinter Klaas and the German Saint Nicholas. Also, our Christmas trees came from Germany.

Martin Luther King added candles to the trees to remind everyone of the wonders of God's creation.

Today many Americans use artificial trees. But of course, the tradition still exists in decorating, lighting and putting presents under the tree.

Christmas is far more than shopping. For many Americans, it is a period of goodwill and an occasion for charitable and volunteer work.

Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker ballet is a favorite holiday experience. A couple non-Christian holidays are celebrated around the same time of year as Christmas. These are the African American Kwanzaa and the Jewish Hanukkah.

Now, let's hop on a plane and check out Venezuela.

Venezuelans love to go roller-skating to church on Christmas Eve. Then they go home to a Christmas dinner of tamales. Fireworks are everywhere. Their favorite Christmas music is "Gaita" music, a type of folk music from the Zulia state.

In Venezuela, they decorate mostly with artificial Christmas trees. Nativity scenes are popular. Many purchase new clothes for the holidays and the color yellow is believed to bring good luck for the New Year.

Most of them open their gifts on Christmas Eve at midnight. Presents are brought by St. Nicholas and Baby Jesus. Their Christmas feast consists of beef, pork, chicken, capers, raisins, and olives. It is wrapped in plantain leaves and tied with a string then boiled or steamed and eaten along with Venezuelan Christmas Bread.

Now let's hop back on the plane and head for Europe to visit Austria.

Many Austrian families have an Advent Wreath made from evergreen twigs and decorated with ribbons and four candles. A Christkindle market or Christmas market is held in many towns. They sell Christmas decorations, cookies like gingerbread and warm mulled wine. In cities like Vienna, Innsbruck, Salzburg they have markets and people all over the World visit them.

Each town presents a Christmas tree in the town square. They decorate their trees with gold and silver ornaments and stars made from straw.

Christmas starts around 4:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve when the tree is lit for the first time and people sing carols around the fireplace. Their favorite carol is "Silent Night," which was written in Austria in 1818.

They believe ChristKindle decorates the trees and brings presents to them. He is a golden-haired baby with wings who symbolizes Christ. Some children get a present from St. Nicholas who is accompanied by Krampus. Krampus is a big horned monster who comes to punish bad children.
