INJURY THAT NEARLY ENDED OUR TREK | Day 3 – Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek | Namche Bazaar

Today was an acclimatisation day, meaning we spend another night in Namche Bazaar and just do a day hike so that our bodies can adjust to the altitude and hopefully prevent us from getting altitude sickness. We started our day in Namche Bazaar, Nepal, with a hike up to the Tenzing Norgay Memorial and Everest View Point. It was a pretty short hike and then we got our first look at Mount Everest! Luckily we had perfect weather and could see it very clearly!


On our way back down Ash injured herself and had to go spend the rest of the day back at the teahouse with one of our assistant guides looking after her. I continued on with the day hike with the rest of our Intrepid group and we trekked for a few more hours before returning. We saw yak’s and lots of beautiful views.



After getting back to Namche Bazaar and checking on Ash, I realised her injury was more severe than we originally thought. We were unsure if she would be able to continue on our trek to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes…
