God of the Mundane - Hope Langston (Original Song)

God of the Mundane - Hope Langston (Original Song) I wrote this song when reflecting on how we often rejoice in God for getting us through the hard times and working miracles, but we tend to forget to delight in Him in the good and easy times as well. God is the God of miracles and the mundane things.

The lyrics are below:

In the midst of the war
I see You in the fight
But when the battles done
I start to lose my sight
When the dark surrounds
Need You to light the way
But when daylight comes
How come I walk away?
When the thunder roles somehow I know You’re still in control
But when the storm subsides I forget You’re still by my side

You’re the God within the burning flames
And the Peace in and through every hurricane
You’re the One who walked on the waves
And the Lord who breaks off binding chains
But You’re also the God of the mundane

When my world shakes
You’re my solid ground
But when I find my way
I forget You’re why I’m found
When the lightning strikes
You make me a home
How come I choose to live
Among dry bones
In the trials I rest under Your wings of grace
But in the triumph I walk my own way

You’re the God within the burning flames
And the Peace in and through every hurricane
You’re the One who walked on the waves
And the Lord who breaks off binding chains
But You’re also the God of the mundane

I asked for Your blessing
In the valley of pain I was living
And You gave Yourself freely
I didn’t know what I’d been missing
You are faithful in the hurting
And You are faithful in the healing
You are God in every season
And You are in this moment

You’re the God within the burning flames
And the Peace in and through every hurricane
You’re the One who walked on the waves
And the Lord who breaks off binding chains
But You’re also the God of the mundane
