Locals said the attacker was “confirmed dead”, having turned the gun on himself. Police have launched a terror probe as a result of the tragic incident. The man is believed to have been from Saudi Arabia. The US Navy Twitter account tweeted about the shooting this morning. The post read: “We are aware of reports of a possible active shooter at Naval Air Station Pensacola.” The shooting came two days after an sailor opened fire at employed at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard near Honolulu, Hawaii. The US Navy also tweeted when first reports of the shooting came in. They said: “#BREAKING: We are aware of reports of a possible active shooter at Naval Air Station Pensacola. More information to follow.” They then announced the shooter was dead.  Up to five of those injured were rushed to Baptist Health Care in Pensacola. Six more victims were taken to Ascension Sacred Heart. Neither hospital has issued an update on the conditions of those injured.  Jeff Bergosh, Escambia County Commissioner, works at the naval base. He said the gate had been locked this morning when he tried to get in to work. He told the Pensacola News Journal: “There's probably been 100 or so various law enforcement vehicles zooming down the wrong side on Navy Boulevard.” Trending  He added: "There's been ambulances, fire trucks. It's my understanding there's multiple causalities. Of the injured, two are officers from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. One was shot in the knee by the shooter and the other was shot in the shoulder, and both are expected to make a full recovery, according to CNN. US President Donald Trump has tweeted about the shooting. He said: Just received a full briefing on the tragic shooting at NAS Pensacola in Florida, and spoke to @GovRonDeSantis. “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this difficult time. We are continuing to monitor the situation as the investigation is ongoing.”
