Building A HUGE CNC Router Machine! Part One. (This is so exciting!)

We're making a great big cnc router table by converting a great big plasma table. So far everything is identical – the table, the rails and the gantry. All these parts are available from Rob at Extreme Engineering -
Tell him Tim sent you.

Extreme Engineering don't make router tables, they just make plasma tables, so this is an experiment. If it doesn't work it'll be my fault and nothing to do with them. But a plasma table and a router table are nearly the same, so surely it should be possible? And if we can work out how to do it, then this will be the best value cnc router of this size ever. It will easily take an 8'x4' sheet – in fact it should take a larger one too. (Did I mention this is very exciting?!)
