Prime Time discusses with the students of JNU the ongoing protests held by them against the proposed fee hike by the university. Oishi Ghosh, president of JNUSU says that student union bodies were not represented or consulted before the decision to revise hostel fees. However, Dr Geeta Bhatt, Associate Professor at University of Delhi, says that when elected representatives of the hostel wanted to hold a meeting with the hostel warden, they were whisked away by the protesting students. Meanwhile, students also allege use of brute force against them by the Delhi Police. Has the university raised fees beyond affordability? Are the revised fees of Jawaharlal Nehru University higher than other public universities? We ask.
