There are a lot of predatory reptiles on the farm since we no longer use chemicals & have reduced the amount of plowing.
This has increased the variety of nature but unfortunately has also increased the numbers of big snakes (some poisonous & potentially deadly) and huge monitor lizards that have developed a taste for our free-range farm poultry eggs!
The water monitor lizard is a large species of monitor lizard. The breeding maturity is attained for males when they are a relatively modest 40 cm (16 in) long and weigh 1 kg (2.2 lb), and for females at 50 cm (20 in). However, they grow much larger throughout life, with males being larger than females.
