With so many services in the game, every company is going to be trying to innovate to make THEIR platform more attractive to consumers.

However, this kind of thing can potentially blow up in their faces too. Just recently, Netflix experienced a ton of backlash from famous actors and filmmakers over the announcement that they were testing a feature that would let people control the playback speed of Netflix content.
