Mariga nomination splits jubilee

Days before political parties submit the names of their candidates for the upcoming Kibra by election, the  decision by the ruling jubilee party to nominate soccer star Macdonald Mariga to be its flagbearer has sparked off sharp divisions within the party  with a section of leaders threatening to support the ODM candidate
Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny says the vetting exercise which culminated in Mariga's nomination from a list of 16 aspirants was carried out in secrecy  contrary to the party regulations even as another NASA affiliate party Ford- Kenya unveiled its candidate for the by election.
