Christian Goeke, CEO of Messe Berlin, warned about the consequences that a trade war may bring to all consumers worldwide, speaking at the media opening of the IFA consumer electronics trade fair 2019 in Berlin on Wednesday.

"Today's consumer electronics is a mash up of the best or most affordable parts out there. So, any trade war will not just hit the country where this device has been assembled; it will also hit consumers, it will also hit us," stressed Goeke.

He believes that trade and political barriers may push investors away, but added that there is still time to avoid the outcome.

Reinhard C. Zinkann, Chairman of the ZVEI Large Domestic Electrical Appliances Division, gave positive forecasts about the home appliance industry. "We are fairly optimistic about the future although the economic environment is largely volatile as you all know."

IFA is one of the oldest industrial exhibitions in Germany and one of the most important trade shows in the world. It is jointly organised by The German Association for Entertainment and Communications Electronics and Messe Berlin GmbH.

The fair will be open to visitors from September 6 till September 6.
