Worcestershire Hunt - Summerhill Farm, Droitwich - 31.08.19 We arrived at 6:00am just in time to see the Worcestershire Hunt leaving the meet and surrounding the first wood. We went over and asked them why they were all stationary and why they had surrounded the wood? One of the terriermen looked around for someone to help him answer the question whilst one rider said they were training the hounds. He was less forthcoming on what exactly they were being trained to do.
It wasn’t long before the hounds were heard in cry in the woods and a fox was seen running out of the woods and past both hunt supporters and terriermen on the edge of the wood. We sprang into action and stopped the hounds that had come out of the wood after the fox.
It was at this point that the hunt support became aggressive having had their fun spoilt they started pushing and shoving us about. One hunt member lashed out at a sab hitting him on the back of the head and randomly calling him a pedophile. We didn’t back down from this aggression and stood our ground with sabs even having to intervene to calm the hunt down. We pointed out that the only child abuse that was going on that morning was from the parents who had forced their children to witeness cub hunting. - If you know of any parents in your community who do take the children out fox hunting we recommend informing social services.
After gathering his hounds and milling about at the farm below the woods the huntsman took the hounds back to the meet and packed up having only hunted one wood and having been out for under an hour
Yesterday we were able to save 1 fox and prevented the surrounding woods from even being hunted - Your donations made this possible. If you would like to donate to enable us to save more foxes please use the link below
