#124 DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ENGLISH TEACHER IN KOREA

#124 DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ENGLISH TEACHER IN KOREA I try to keep our day jobs out of the vlogs as much as possible, but today I thought I would show you what a day in the life of an English teacher here in Korea looks like. I can't take you in the classroom, but I will do my best to show you around the day as much as possible. There are some little good nuggets of info packed in here, so if you're looking to move to Korea to teach English, take notes! I hope this helps you if you are wanting to teach, and I hope it's entertaining for those of you just curious about daily life here. Enjoy!

-What’s the difference between a morning and afternoon hagwon?

Morning hagwons teach kindergarten in the morning (usually between the hours of 9:30-2:30ish) and then teach elementary students (around 2:00-7:00ish). Parents will pay much more for kindergarten classes and the foreign teacher will spend much more time in these classes and often have an assigned home room. These are typically much more involved and demand more prep. Hours are estimates, each school could have slightly different times, but that’s in the ballpark.

Afternoon hagwons start later in the day. These are the academies that students come to after they finish their normal Korean school for the day. These start and end later in the day. Usually a day will start around 1:00 or 2:00. You may teach kindergarten during this time, but for a smaller length of time. You will teach students anywhere from kindergarten- high school, dependent on your school. Classes usually finish somewhere between 7-10:00 pm.
