Don't they want to avoid competition?
The answer to that question shows a deeper level of understanding that these brands have. You see they understand their typical customer very well and therefore they're happy to share a section of the mall with similar brands because it will attract their ideal customer. They also know that just because someone buys from their competitor it doesn't mean they won't buy from them too.
So although these brands are in competition, they're also in alliances with the very same brands!
