Strategic Management Plan: Etsy Need help with Alternative Choice that Strategic Management Plan: Etsy Need help with Alternative Choice that comes after Alternative Evaluation. Thank you! Alternative Evaluation Lets begin with international strategy. Considering Etsy’s current strategy of attracting global buyers and sellers to their platform, along with wanting to create a centralized hub of decision making, they have currently adopted a global strategy. However, considering they are looking to increase local responsiveness in key international growth markets, we must ask if a global strategy is the right one? Would a multi-domestic strategy work better as it will give decision making power to individual business units around the world, or would that be too risky? Perhaps decentralizing decision making would not work with Etsy’s current business model. Another model Etsy can look at is a transnational strategy. This may fit better than a multi-domestic strategy as it can allow Etsy to gain both global efficiency and local responsiveness. A transnational strategy could help Etsy continue its growth while expanding into new markets, while diversifying its offerings, products, and services (which we have discussed at length above). The need to closely manage costs, innovate technologically on a global scale, and aggressively grow in developing countries could best be served by a transnational strategy. While each strategy brings its own rewards and risks, we must consider which is best for Etsy at this moment in time for their company’s future. This is a key decision for Etsy as it will determine how to implement the aforementioned strategy alternatives which we will consider below. Tiered Store Fronts Our first strategic alternative is for Etsy to develop tiered store-front packages for sellers that would increase the look and feel of their online store, increase their product visibility and create more revenue for existing and future buyers, as well as, creating more revenue for Etsy. There is minimal risk for Etsy and a lot of upside
