Our Thirteen Black Bear Residents

Our Thirteen Black Bear Residents At present, we have thirteen black bears in residence at Appalachian Bear Rescue:

Sweetie, Daffodil, and Iris are eighteen-month-old black bear yearlings. They’re residing in Wild Enclosure #4 until they’re released back to the wild later this month. (August 2019)

Dandelion, Bentley, Jessamine, Bluebelle, Marigold, and Boudreaux are six-month-old black bear cubs residing in Wild Enclosure #2.

Bluebeary, Blackbeary, and Hucklebear (The Beary Triplets), and Beignet are six-month-old black bear cubs residing in Wild Enclosure #1.

The cubs will return to the wild later this year.

All our bears are thriving and we’re grateful for your compassion and support of our mission. ❤️

Appalachian Bear Rescue (ABR), founded in 1996, is located just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Townsend, Tennessee. It is a rehabilitation center for orphaned and injured black bear cubs, two years of age or younger, with the goal to release them back to the wild as soon as possible.
