Northrop Grumman B2 Spirit stealth bombers depart X3 from RAF Fairford on 28|8|19 Well, this has to be one of the highlights of the year, to say the least. On Monday 26/8/19 and Tuesday the Tuesday 28/8/19. The Northrop Grumman B2A Spirits, Spirit of Georgia, New York, and Missouri arrived at 00:30 and 3am on a secret mission. These are some of the most technically advanced aircraft in the world. Costing 2.3billion US dollars, the B2 was conceived during the 1980s as a Stealthys strategic bomber to infiltrate the soviet union undetected. They use RAM (Radar absorbing materials) and a shape with all angles are different, it shape constantly changes as it moves across the sky meaning it has the radar cross-section about 10,000 times smaller than a B52. Its engines exhaust shape disperses the hot air with cold air quicker to give it a low infrared signature. Originally there was going to be 120 built but, in fact, only 21 one was ever made because the soviet union was starting to crumble by 1989 and by 1991 ceased to exist. There was no need for 120 nuclear cable bombers that cost that much, the US government was looking for a program to kill and they chose the B2, though the aircraft still had its strategic value as a conventual bomber. It could in theory still carry nuclear weapons and most likely can be retrofitted if needed. Open skies treaty currently prevents them from carrying any. Thought despite this they ere eventually used in 1999 during the Kosovo war and ever since has been flying on the full front of Us bomber operations with constant upgrades they are expected to fly until 2032. Probably one of the coolest, most remarkable aircraft to have ever flown
Anyway, that's the story behind this amazing machine, so happy to have finally got it flying, awesome to see three go up one after the other, they were conducting a special round tour of the Uk.
Anyway, hope you enjoy like comment and subscribe.
