Eminem's Music Publisher Wants Millions From Spotify

CNN reports that Eminem's music publisher is coming for Spotify.
They filed a copyright-infringement lawsuit against the streaming giant.
The lawsuit claims that over 200 of Eminem's songs, including his hit "Lose Yourself" have streamed on Spotify billions of times, without their publisher, Eight Mile Style, getting the proper royalties.
The lawsuit also claims Spotify violated some of the Music Modernization Act (MMA), which is a new law that simplifies the process that musicians, songwriters and rights holders get paid for online music streamed.
The lawsuit seeks "willful statutory damages" of "$150,000 for each of 243 songs... That would total $36.4 million."
The suit was filed on Wednesday in a Nashville federal court, by attorney Richard Busch. He also helped Marvin Gaye's win a lawsuit against Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams for copyright infringement over the song "Blurred Lines."
The suit includes "Spotify has not accounted to Eight Mile or paid Eight Mile for these streams but instead remitted random payments of some sort, which only purport to account for a fraction of those streams."
