THE SIX OFFENDER! '56 VW ALTERED BUG! UNTESTED! WINS CLASS FIRST TIME OUT! USPEC! BYRON! We've all had ideas and doodled up drawings of cars we would someday like to build or for the mechanically challenged like me dream of having someone build it for you. Mikey Brown had the same dream back in June of '18, but turned his sketch into reality in almost a year to the day later! Mikey's wild '56 Oval Window Bug, sporting wild fade metal flake paint by Patrick Hampton and classic gold leaf lettering by Dave North is powered by 292ci Chevy 6cyl with a Sissell head, powerglide trans and a 9 inch ford rearend. Mikey built the whole car along with the h.a.m.b. style dragster chassis. Ryan Walker, Mikey's buddy built the rearend and bent some bars up for the build. Mikey had to pull a lot of timing out until about the 300 foot. This race was a super slick track with no burnout and the pie crusts only slicks. If Mikey would’ve left at full power he wouldn’t have moved as he had to manage the power on this outing. Look for Mikey to turn it up and see what the Bug really can do on a prepped track with a proper burnout. Mikey is grateful for all his friends and family who with their support made this day one he will always remember!
