Amid nationwide strikes by Amazon workers during the company's annual Prime Day, the House Judiciary Subcommittee hosted an antitrust panel that challenged an Amazon executive Tuesday on allegations that the company competes against its own sellers. Amazon was one of several tech giants, including Apple, Facebook and Google, that participated in the hearing about the potential dangers of internet market monopolies. Stacy Mitchell, the co-director of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance and author of "Big-Box Swindle: The True Cost of Mega-Retailers and the Fight for America’s Independent Businesses," was one of the experts who testified about Amazon before the panel.
