Amid World Heritage Site bid, businesses in Myanmar's Bagan weigh the cost UNESCO members are in Azerbaijan this week to decide on Bagan's bid to become a World Heritage Site. The global body in charge of culture and heritage has told CNA that, if the city in Myanmar gets listed, then hotels within the Bagan's ancient zone will have to move out. But at least one hotel plans to appeal to the authorities in the hope of staying on. Bagan’s Department of Archaeology says it does not plan to evict existing villagers, as they are already a part of Bagan’s culture.
