Over the last few years I've shown a few anglers this and some bait diggers, and its still surprising that not many know about it so with that in mind i thought I would share. Fishing daylight hours on the shore can sometimes be challenging, so with this short video I'm going to show you what the fish may see, by using UV as an ally and increasing your chances of catching fish using lugworm.
UV light penetrates the water and shows up colours under water that humans cannot see with the naked eye, predatory fish can see the effects on bait fish and in this case lugworm. many fish also emit various colours when identifying possible prey or mates. For more on this this please look up the Life of Glow by David Attenborough.
When lugworm are stressed they emit a green fluid which shows up under UV light, as you can see in the video while in a natural state the lugworm show no visible effects under UV.
Give it a try the next time your fishing with lugworm.
