Thousands of Democrats gathered at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in South Carolina on Saturday for a series of speeches by Democratic presidential candidates including frontrunners Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.
The veteran politicians explained their signature policies, including Sanders' Medicare-for-all healthcare system and higher taxes on the rich to pay for tuition free college and university, while Biden explained the need for the president to be a better role model than Donald Trump.
Twenty of the 24 Democratic presidential candidates will be taking part in the first primary debates over two nights on June 26 and 27, but the road to the nomination is still long as the candidate to take on Trump will not be decided until July 2020.
