0:05 Hi, I'm Mike Marko. In this video, I'm gonna talk to you about what's happening right now, why you're getting less results, and what you need to do in order to get better results when it comes to your local business marketing.

0:16 So right now, you're gonna find that, of the people that are interested in your service, 10% are gonna be interested in buying in the next less than three months. But the problem is, is that most people that are marketing online are also going to this target audience here. Of the people that are interested in buying over the next year, most people are getting marketing to this 10% because people are ready to pull the trigger right now.

0:47 The thing is, 50% of the people are gonna be three to six months out. And you're going to have about 45% of people that are gonna be six-plus months out; of people interested in buying your service. So you can imagine looking at something like this. If you focus and try to get 10% on this share right here, you're actually going to find that you're gonna be competing with a lot of people for that 10%.

1:14 Now, imagine if you're actually focused on this audience here, getting 10% of this audience here. First of all, you're gonna have a much larger share… of the 50% of the people. And at the same time, they're going to be easier because you're getting less people marketing to those people. Okay...\ so you can see the advantage here.

1:31 If you're focusing on these people here, bringing you to top of mind, they're more likely to buy from you. When it comes to actually when they're ready to pull the trigger. Now it doesn't make a difference really what service you're talking about. Maybe you're a Lasik surgeon. And those people, when they think of a Lasik surgery, they're usually thinking about at least three months out, if not longer.

1:52 Now, you can imagine they've got questions. They're gonna be typical questions: “What is Lasik Surgery?”, “What's involved?”, “What are the risks?”, “What are the recovery times?”... Those are the kind of articles, content you want to serve those people. By having ads, you choose who's your target audience, the age group, and areas you want to focus on, and start serving those kinds of articles based on answering those typical questions and objections that people might be having about that Lasik surgery.

2:23 So by the time they're actually ready to pull the trigger and they've been seeing your content now for several months, they're more likely to go with you because you've actually established yourself as an authority in that particular niche and you're in that area and they know about you already. Plus, at the same time you're targeting with ads, you're gonna be top of mind. You're gonna be the first person they think of when they think of having that Lasik surgery.

2:46 And that's how this whole thing works. Because if you can focus on that 3-to-6-month group, people who are ready 3 to 6 months out, and start getting them thinking about you and answering those questions, they're more likely to actually purchase from you. And you actually have a lot less competition when it comes to doing that. So consider that when you're setting up your digital marketing program. And making sure you're focused on this group using content marketing… and that's videos, articles, etc.
